What does COP, SCOP mean?

The energy consumption of various heat pumps is expressed in the Coefficient of Performance, or COP. Regardless of the type, whether it's an air-source heat pump or a ground-source heat pump, efficiency is measured based on the COP. But what does this COP actually mean?

By cleverly applying physical principles, energy can be extracted that is already present around us. Unlike burning fossil fuels, this process does not emit harmful substances. Electricity is needed to initiate this process. When this electricity is generated sustainably, the emissions are zero.
